Name: 90s Kid
Canon: Atop the Fourth Wall
OU/AU/OC: AU (It's Just a Game RP and Revenance RP)
Canon Point: After the Entity is destroyed
History: Nobody's really certain where 90s Kid came from. Rumors guess that he ran away from his parents - or they ran away from him. But wherever he came from, at some point he made himself the problem of the comic book critic Linkara. He likes to think that they were best friends from the beginning, not really grasping that Linkara was always annoyed at him. He tended to come into the critic's house uninvited to crash on his couch - or hide in a more secluded room - and interrupt Linkara's reviews whenever the topic of the 90s arose. It became enough of a problem that Linkara was forced to install a gas security system in his house, though that never stopped the boy. He did find a way to make himself useful, however, when Linkara was attacked by the android Mechakara, and he joined the team that swooped in to save the critic when things looked dire. True, he ran away with the others when the android's shields adapted to their weapons, but at least he got to shoot a gun!
A few months passed uneventfully, until one day Linkara suddenly disappeared from his room, abducted by a being from another dimension. It took almost a month to recover him, and in the meantime 90s Kid once again offered his hand by substituting for him in an episode of the review show. Mostly he just sat in his basement and played Sega, though. Upon Linkara's return, 90s Kid was forevermore banned from hosting the show. But to make up for it, when Linkara decided to move to his own place to try to evade more evil forces that would attack him, he also resigned himself to the fact that 90s Kid wasn't going away anytime soon, and he got his own room in the new apartment.
Some time shortly after they started packing to move into the new place, 90s Kid was suddenly transported aboard the Satellite of Love above Earth's orbit, where he was stuck under the whim of two mad scientists subjecting their prisoners to bad literature until they could find a way out. Linkara and Iron Liz were also on board with him, still about as annoyed at his presence as ever. Not many really took any liking to him, except Pinkie Pie, who instantly became friends with him, curious about his slang and his unusual interests. They quickly became best buddies, pulling pranks and playing video games together. He even taught her the joys of pop rocks and Crossfire! He also very quickly developed a crush on Minako Aino, though she didn't return his affections. Not even when they went to Vegas in a time machine, met Joel Robinson, and accidentally got married.
...long story.
Besides his friendship with Pinkie Pie, a lot of 90s Kid's time on the satellite can be summed up with "And then he did something stupid." But if you want a few examples, there are plenty. Like the time he fell in a hole in the floor and broke the alternate formula shaving cream primary line, causing all the soap dispensers on the satellite to spit out sparkly, strawberry-scented shaving cream while Gypsy tried to fix it. Or the time the satellite passed by a herd of space orcas and he and Crow went out in a subpod to see them, only to be eaten by one. Or the above-mentioned accidental marriage. Even Pinkie Pie still managed to get him in trouble; one time he spent almost an entire week without bathing, which provoked her to trick him into playing on a tire swing rigged up to a sprinkler, causing it to break and spraying him with really cold water and flooding the lower decks. He was sick for a while after that...but at least he was clean. But even through all of that he managed to keep his happy-go-lucky attitude, somehow completely oblivious to a lot of the trouble he got himself into.
But for this radical dude, not everything was fun and games, either. Harvey Finevoice, another friend of Linkara's, showed up sometime after Halloween, on edge and going on about some sort of "entity" that he apparently mistook 90s Kid for, breaking his shades and giving him a bloody nose in his panic. 90s Kid never was entirely sure what that was all about. He came upon plenty other trials and tribulations in his year and a half on the Satellite as well. Most notably were his messy death at the jaws of a utahraptor, though a week later he came back to life - attending his own funeral, no less - not even aware that something had happened. And then there was the time everyone on the Satellite became a Pony. While it started innocently enough, everyone getting used to walking on four hooves, and Pinkie Pie helping 90s Kid to discover his special talent as he didn't have a cutie mark, suddenly a strange creature named Discord came along, toying with everypony aboard, including poor Pinkie who suddenly turned serious, bitter and angry. She screamed at him when he tried to see if she was okay, declaring their friendship over and even breaking her cambot. He was heartbroken by the whole ordeal, and when he discovered that Pinkie's personality had been skewed by Discord, he was dead serious the whole time, offering assistance in getting rid of Discord and giving it all he got. Probably more than he ever gave any task in his life; Pinkie Pie was his best friend and one of the only ones on the Satellite who liked him; he wasn't going to lose her now. Discord was ultimately sealed in a terrible book and locked away never to be seen for the rest of the time they were all in space.
As time went on Minako's constant refusal to acknowledge 90s Kid's affections started to wear on him as well. They were even married and still she refused to give him the time of day. He eventually confronted her about it, learning that it was her attempt at protecting him. She had a duty to protect earth from the forces of evil, and because of that she was cursed, literally cursed, to doom anybody she would love or who would love her. She kept her distance because she didn't want him liking her; she didn't want to hurt him. Well she also thought he was annoying and didn't bathe enough, but she also didn't want him hurt. He took that chance to declare that he didn't care if it meant his life; he'd already died once and came back, and his feelings for Minako were deep enough that he'd take the risk for her. But despite his best intentions, Minako still didn't want him involved in her life. When Joel arrived to finally fix the Twin-Screw Universal Controller that caused everybody to show up on the Satellite, 90s Kid finally said goodbye to her for good, returning his wedding ring to her. She gave him her red hair ribbon as a memorial. He also exchanged friendship bracelets with Pinkie Pie, having the feeling he wasn't going to see her for a long time either.
He never forgot the fun he had on the Satellite of Love, but you'd never know it given what he came home to. As it turns out, the dude who kidnapped Linkara back then was Lord Vyce, a real bad dude who was hunting the "entity" that Harvey had been talking about. It was a strange, unknown force that was destroying reality across dimensions. Something that should never exist. Something that was in Linkara's universe. While nobody was any the wiser, said Entity possessed 90s Kid while he was sorting his Bloodgun comics, using his image to lie undercover in the critics' home while it did its work. It took months for anybody to catch on to the fact that 90s Kid was acting strangely, and he himself wasn't even aware that anything was happening; he came around eight months later, after Linkara had confronted the Entity and convinced it to kill itself, with a mondo headache and no memory of what happened.
He also might have had a weird dream about living in a dark city with a pet lizard-snake thing that he named Kodachrome. And it set his shoe on fire. Weirdest dream ever.
Personality: Just as his name implies, 90s Kid is, well, a child of the nineties. Resembling a stereotypical "surfer dude," he embodies everything that defined the decade, from his love of the Sega Genesis, Nirvana and early Image Comics - especially artist Rob Liefeld - to his painfully outdated slang. He is a simple boy to entertain and he knows what he likes; shoulder pads, big guns, lots of explosions, and hot busty chicks in skintight clothes. In fact, just about anything dark, edgy and extreme will hold his interest. He is a huge fan of a rare comic book called Bloodgun. In fact, he is its only fan.
90s Kid maintains a very positive outlook on life; he is hyperactive and loud and thinks just about everything is AWESOME. Unfortunately, he's not the brightest bulb in the drawer and this optimism and excitability also comes with complete obliviousness to social norms and reality in general, causing him to frequently come off as very shallow and annoying. He is easily distracted and the few times he is serious, he will always end up going off on a tangent about the next thing that catches his attention. He has absolutely no sense of self-restraint, nor does he ever really stop to think about the words coming out of his mouth, and is pretty much guaranteed to do something stupid and impulsive, sometimes proving to be a hazard to himself and others. But in the end he really does mean well, and when it really comes down to it, he'll stick up for his friends. Of course it doesn't hurt if there's a big gun involved, either.
In more recent times, 90s Kid has had a slight nervousness to him. Ever since his encounter with the Entity he seems to almost be completely normal, but often when he's alone at night he'll find himself suddenly anxious and edgy, and he's more prone to nightmares. He's not entirely sure why, though; he doesn't really remember anything about the incident. He's also taken to being a little more irritated at jabs taken at his intelligence; he insists he's not an idiot, though he hasn't really done much to change his attitude since. Though his time on the Satellite of Love has at least proven that he is capable of seriousness. Having Pinkie Pie as his friend has allowed him to focus his energies in spending time with her, and therefore he has begun to calm down, if only just a little. He has shown focus and determination when his friends were in danger, and under the watchful eye of Pinkie and Harvey, they've ensured that he not do anything too reckless. Especially since Pinkie made him promise not to jump into danger anymore. Mostly. He has also suffered the heartache of unrequited love; his experience with Minako taught him a valuable lesson about what it truly means to love someone and letting them go.
Strengths: optimistic, knows what he likes, more knowledge of the 90s than should be sanely possible
Weaknesses: not very bright, socially oblivious, clumsy, more knowledge of the 90s than should be sanely possible
Possessions: a friendship bracelet given to him by Pinkie Pie, a red hair ribbon given to him by Minako, a Hebby Repp named Kodachrome.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!
So I was just thinkin' the other day, it's totally bogus that I don't have a cutie mark. That's like sayin' I don't have a special talent, and that's so lame! I totally have a special talent! We're all special in our own way, we don't gotta have a tattoo on our butt to know that, am I right?
Anyway, so I started talkin' with these three kids who don't have their marks either, and they said they totally know how to get one.
BUNGEE JUMPIIIIIIING!
It's totally radical, right? I just know that plummeting a few hundred feet, the wind in my mane, just inches away from possible death, I'm totally gonna find out who I really am.
COWABUNGAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
[Aaaand the feed fades as he falls out of range.]
Third Person: "Can...I...help you?" the slightly frightened mare behind the counter asked, peering dubiously at the neon green colt sloppily shuffling comics around on the shelves. 90s Kid jumped up from the box of used comics he'd been digging in and scampered toward the counter, possibly knocking a smaller colt over lightly in the process.
"Yeah! Do you guys have like, any Bloodgun or somethin'?"
The cashier's eyes went wide, almost mortified.
"Blood...what?"
"Bloodgun! Y'know, the most totally hardcore comic ever in all everness? It looks like Rob Liefeld drew it, but it's not. But you'd have to be a hardcore fan like me to tell, I own like *all* of Liefeld's comics--"
"I'm sorry sir, we don't stock...unique...comics like that. Could I interest you instead in Captain Equestria #523? It's the last one before the Marevel universe reboots again..."
"Does it have any blood in it?"
"Er...no."
"Pass. Do you have any Liefeld? Youngblood? Spawn? Bloodstrike?"
"No..."
"Well there's gotta be somethin' worth readin' in here, man! I have high standards, dudette...I don't read anythin' that isn't top quality! I like big boobs, huge shoulderpads, and of course lots of GUUUUUUUUNS!" and he emphasized the gun part with a wild flail about the room as if he were shooting an invisible gun.
90s Kid was never allowed in that comic shop ever again.
